Burst City (1982)

Sometimes a movie is just a serious of events and other times a movie is four or five interwoven plotlines; Burst City tries to be both and kinda fails, but it has a non-stop manic energy that somehow carries it through. This is a twisted look at Japanese counterculture and outlawdom in the 1980s recast in the dystopian future, all mutated rebellion and cheapass criminal conspiracies and hyped-up animal desires acted out under brutal and incompetent state suppression. Cinematography's off the shits—aggressive and volatile and painfully intrusive—and the music is a non-stop barrage of punk. If you're expecting mercy or sanity, look elsewhere! AAAAAAAAA
