Kamikaze Girls (2004)

Counterfeit fashion, counterfeit legends, counterfeit lives, all manifesting something true… it doesn't matter if it's fake as long as it's real. Really fun premise and slow-burn friendship, and the colour work gives it a sweltering feeling. Voice-over narration from a know-it-all character can be annoying, but here it lets you see how in her head Momoko is until Ichigo helps her out of her shell… and it includes some neat ideas, like how good clothes (good anything, really) make you want to be worthy of them.
