A paean to what the writer saw as the best in USAmerica. Some great environments and close-ups—it's easy to see why one of the staff was personally scouted for Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust—but the philosophical core of the film is half-baked. Finally, I can't overlook how the only evil character is a Black man dressed as a mix of stereotypes—pimp, performer, shaman—who takes a much younger white woman as his death-bride, while the two wisest, most intelligent characters in the film are also the palest. This film truly is USAmerican!
