I know the anthology aspect of this film is meant to show the bloodline characters as different iterations of the same person wrestling with and eventually overcoming temptation, but they're so blandly-written and -acted that they might as well be random guys. So, what else is going on besides the collapse of the film's emotional and narrative core? On the sci-horror side there's one fun cenobite design and a generic, grungy space station set that looks like it came out of a cheap TV series. On the tragedy side there's zero interest or satisfaction because all the characters are so functional, introduced to do their bit and leave/die. In fact, all the remotely characterful characters besides Pinhead die in the first two acts. All that's left is… hollow flesh.
