Lupin III: Alcatraz Connection (2001)

Come for the anime Columbo and the San Fran capers, suffer through the cartoonish racism and sexism, stay for the absolutely wild third-act twist. There's also some nice if occasionally clunky music, some inventive chase scenes, and a few good Lupin–Zenigata momence, though they do tend to sideline everyone else (Jigen and Goemon's side-stories here feel very “00s-anime filler episode”… gotta find something for the lads to do I guess).
