Lupin III: Prison of the Past (2019)

You gotta be kidding me, trying to get me to sympathise with a prison warden(!) who's been running arms deals(!!) and a slave market(!!!) just because her country's elderly king was held hostage. Anyway, the first half is a solid setup with a lotta fun scenes (like Zenigata's prison break or the Lupin/Jigen/Goemon sandwich metaphor) and there's a rogue's gallery of doofuses, then things go to shit. The middle's a muddle of dull compositions and the final act gets unbearably shounen and culminates in bafflingly-presented villain motive. Such a fucking letdown.
