Lupin III: The Legend of the Gold of Babylon (1985)

The start's dominated by a hectic motorbike chase through a giant animatronic billboard head, a sort of pre-show skit that makes clear just how wacky and slapstick the film's gonna be. The end's some wild, off-the-rails bullshit that approaches the relentless psychedelic escalation of The Mystery of Mamo. A lot of what's in between feels like a family-friendly TV series episode stretched so thin you can see the emptiness beneath.
