Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine (2012)

I feel confident saying that never before has an entry in the Lupin franchise been so thought-provoking. Yamamoto Sayo, Okada Mari, and co. slit the throat of the franchise's gender politics and let all the stinking ichor ooze out, and they commit this murder-exposé with uncommon style and verve combined with the edge of the early Monkey Punch originals. Dreamy, nightmarish, interrogative, caustic, and sexy above all else. Is it perfect? No, but it's good as hell. See it through to the end.
