Mighty Space Miners (1994)

There's something special and dire about a show whose OP starts with a plaintive hope that the world won't be annihilated… This is lovingly-animated hard sci-fi with some annoyingly soft psychology now and then. There's a lotta fun locations and cool character work and strong visuals (both framing and setpieces), and it's always interesting to see competent characters struggle with circumstances they couldn't predict. Such a shame this was never finished! With the anti-nuclear setup and political woes, I'm really curious how the unmade episode titled “Fascism” would've played out.
