Riding Bean (1989)

Daddy Driver. As far as 20th-century anime/manga set in the USA go, this is a cool, fun, amoral middle-ground between paeans like A Wind Named Amnesia and ultraviolence like Mad Bull 34. Slick and entertaining, and like Gunsmith Cats it's got something a little twisted for the yuri girlies. However, I feel like it's best that this got replaced by Gunsmith Cats—there's not much you can do with a main character whose concept is more-or-less “what if the Terminator was a socially-competent, wisecracking coolguy”. Props though for getting a soundtrack of rock, R&B, and light jazz by actual USAmerican artists.
