The Garden (2005)

A captivating insight into the sheer mass and diversity of labour it takes to sustain an entity like Madison Square Garden, and how that effort is controlled through hierarchies of race, class, and gender—a predominantly white and male management class manipulating and dehumanising their more diverse subordinates. You also see a great cross-section of USAmerican culture and its absurdities, and the role this institution plays in the daily lives of its staff. Even the story of the production itself feeds back into what you see on-screen, as the venue's owners suppressed the film's release due to its unflattering revelations about their business decisions.
