The Golden Bird (1987)

They don't make 'em like this any more—a stunningly stylistically diverse children's fairytale with ostentatious backgrounds, cute character art, and vivid expressions. The drawback is that it almost feels incoherent at times, a sort of “best hits” of earlier animation that's not melded into a seamless whole. Anyway, the villains and their minions and lair really steal the show (particularly the song of the gold-obsessed science witch), but there are plenty more funny and beautiful scenes along the way.
