The Hangman (1964)

An animated short about a Marthin Luther King-esque negative peacemaker, the “They” of First They Came, the “Leopards Eating People's Faces” party, etc. It's a tale of an executioner who works his way through a whole town, unimpeded by its cowardly citizens who reassure themselves he only hangs the deserving, the guilty, the other. The story has few surprises if you're familiar with anything I listed off before, but the art's fantastically creepy (the hollowed-out town, the hangman, and his increasingly-monstrous gallows) and the righteous contempt is ice-cold.
