Smooth old-school bite-sized rail shooter with charm (campy dialogue, insane reads, puppet-y face animations) and decent attention to detail (branching paths with consequences, cutscene changes based on mission performance, Star Wolf tracking damage if you meet them twice). All in all, they did a good job making your decisions and performance matter without going fully open-world, at the cost of cutting each run short. It's only missing a mission select (which the recomp adds under developer options) and different dialogue/cutscenes/events if you change course to an easier path deliberately vs getting forced onto the easier path by failing a mission. The one rough part of the game's that the team conceit is a little bit wasted mechanically because your teammates mostly function as a hint system for beginners and a way to attract enemies you then need to kill like a low-key escort mission, but a more-complex AI probably wasn't technically feasible at the time.
Favourite mission? Probably Zoness for its great mix of tense stealth, hectic combat vs varied enemies, and cool puzzle boss.
Least favourite mission? Gotta be Sector Z, the only bad level, a cool concept with boring execution.
