All the problems of Quake II squared with none of the respite, mixed with awful 2000s FPS sensibilities. Soulless squadmates who often feel more replacable than the Strogg. Bullet sponge enemies bought in bulk at Blood Bath & Beyond. The most miserly hurtboxes this side of A Christmas Carol. Two movement speeds: slower and slowerer. Weapons that are lethal in enemy hands but when you get them they're as damaging as a squirt gun half-empty of piss. Generic “evil cyborg man” creatures in a bland world of linear corridors whose surprises are all telegraphed so hard they should be memorialised in an extra episode of Jon Bois' Fool Time. It's like some fans of the Quake series decided they needed to rehabilitate the image of Quake II by showing what a Quake game looks like when it's actually bad. The only worthwhile parts of this game are the Hannibal levels and the in-engine cutscene where you're mutilated to the brink of death.
