Feels like it wants to be cyberpunk Blood, with some incredibly deadly enemies and brutal encounters; doesn't quite succeed, because its arsenal's not up to scratch (none of your indirect-fire weapons match Blood's dynamite). In fact, your weapons are kind of an issue overall because your best weapon is your starting pistol, with its insta-headshot secondary fire, and your shotgun's a significantly worse backup for if you run out of pistol ammo. On other fronts: the animated voice acting is very fun in tone, even if the protag's pop-culture quips get kinda grating, and the levels are often-gorgeous, often-intricate… before they get replaced by anonymous tunnels and facilities and sewers in the back end of the game. Ion Fury really gets weaker as it goes along.
