A wonderful adventure game with sinister atmosphere, made more claustrophobic by using only a quarter of the normal resolution. The music has a light touch, but a tinkling, snowbound, look-over-your-shoulder tone. The lighting emphasises your isolation, including when the lantern's off and your character's set apart from their surroundings. The lighting puzzles enhance the strangeness by showing you impossible pathways drawn in unnatural blue-greens running through the dark. It's all good! Almost. Unfortunately, the game was badly let down for me by an inscrutable “Lost Woods” puzzle that ends with a total gamble, among other issues.
