The amorality of nature (maybe better described as the morality of nature?) is frankly far better a foundation for horror than overused monster scares or half-baked semi-surrealist creatures, and this kill-and-be-killed pond life sim is certainly one of the scariest PICO-8 games I've played. The unpredictability of the predators, the odd beauty of the bird, the way the threat of death swells the slower you move all add up to a pretty freaky experience. I almost got all six achievements, but just as I hid from the bird for the third time a predator rolled in from offscreen and, seeing I was sitting still, and lunged for me with nothing but hunger in its eyes.
My progress: got 4/6 achievements: Senior Inhabitant, Superstuffer, Living Dangerously, and Overpopulation
